Do you put clear ink down first?

I've noticed alot of transfered tags in retail situations that appear to have a a clear ink on top of the plasitol. Is this a common practice? What is the benefit of doing it?

Is it literally just clear ink? or is it a special type of base?

We don't do a clear, but I like the idea. We haven't had any complaints, yet...

I do a top (bottom when pressed) clear on SOME tags, but rarely and only when they have lots of detail and multiple colors.  Otherwise, I use the powdered adhesive just before they zip through the dryer because it makes every pressing foolproof.  I have tried transfer specific inks, mixing the powder in, etc. and none have been foolproof, especially when pressing on stuff like fleece and tri-blends that require different pressure and heat settings.
