Finally got my store up!!
« on: December 21, 2014, 11:00:52 AM »
Been a long time comin.

I only have 1 shirt (Thanks Donnie!!!) but it's selling pretty well.  I'm not sure if my site is handling the traffic as well as it should, but I'm not complaining.  The store is Shopify which I highly recommend, especially if you are familiar with WordPress.  I added a few plugins for shipping and SEO stuff and it seems to be ok.

This isn't a go buy stuff post, just go look.  Let me know what you think.

oh...shirt is Gildan 100%, I think it's the 5 point somethin oz...not sure.  2 color front, 3 color back.  It's cool to finally be here.

Wow, that's awesome!  This is something we really want to do, if I can ever get my art skills where they need to be, but we're a bit clueless on how to drive sales.  We have learned that just putting a shirt design on eBay seems to be like throwing a message in a bottle into the ocean, and expecting people to find it.  If you don't mind me asking, how do you drive people to your store?  Or, is there a thread on this kind of thing somewhere that I haven't found?

Again- killer work!

This particular shirt is a niche within a niche so identifying my audience is pretty easy.

There's a couple aircooled VW fan sites that I put ads on and I also set up a Google Ad Words account so I can drive traffic via searches.

For Ad Words I chose to stay on one network instead of both so I can maximize my ads for conversions as opposed to clicks.  I also did some regional focus and took a semi long-tail search term approach. (that means I'm not targeting "tshirt", I'm targeting "vw tshirt" or "vintage vw tshirt") I can't afford to pay $2 a click so I had to circumnavigate the BS.  LOLOL!

My Facebook page has been a good source too.  I have a few likes over there so I siphon off visits to the store.  The other thing that has helped is Instagram.  I'm surprised at how well it's done.  I read online about the conversion rate and thought they were blowin smoke up my yahoo, but it's done really well so far.

Lastly I am taking advantage of the season.  Folks are looking for that "different thing" so I'm seeing a boost because of that.

The setup was pretty straight forward.

Just curious why you went with the shopify vs. the (free) Storenvy store?

It's a lot Luke WordPress so I dig that, plus all the SEO lined up for me.

I don't mind paying and really it was just a "feels good" kinda thing.

I got $100 in ad words too so it paid for itself.
