Manual Shop Layout - 30x30
« on: November 30, 2014, 12:42:50 AM »
I'm starting to find my process quite unorganized.  Wasn't really taking good notes on each job/print and my shop seems like total chaos.  I don't really have a darkroom.  Currently have a drying box that I built up in my compressor room.  Works well, no pinhole issues, which is surprising as my shop is very dusty.  Just a little controlled chaos that I'm trying to get a firm hold of.

It's time to get the shop in order.  Have approx 30'x30' to work with in my shop.  The office is already there, but I plan to build the small darkroom.  All of my tables are on casters.  Only have one washout sink for now, but plan on getting a second to split up reclaiming and degreasing/developing.

Looking for any constructive criticism.

DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES COMPLETELY WITHIN MY CONTROL YOU SHOULD GET YOUR OWN TEE SHIRT AND A SHARPIE MARKER BY NOON TOMORROW OR SIMPLY CALL SOMEONE WHO GIVES A SHIRT.

Since you have a manual press do you need so much room around it? What if you move the extras and inventory cabinets and push the press further into the corner?
Then move the conveyor dryer next to the press along the wall where the incoming and sorting table is. That would open the center of the shop for a big table. I found that having the big staging table in a position that you can get to all four sides makes the table feel bigger and helps stop all the junk build up on the wall side of the table.

I should have clarified a few things in the beginning.  The red line to the right just designates the amount of space that I can give to the print shop.  The rest of the space is in use already and quite full.  We plan to build a shop at the house and move the race shop home at some point, but it's not in the cards just yet.

Rearranged things a bit.  Thoughts?
