What is the best way to get faded washed out look on 50/50 hoodies?

We've done these on 100% cottons all day, based down 1 good hit of white.

But with black 50/50 hoodies, I'm starting to wonder what the trick will be.

I would say the same way you do on 100% cotton. Use your meteor white and you're guaranteed to get bleed with a 230 mesh

You might see a bit more wicking than 100% but I've always thought this helps this look.

If that's what your doing with your 100%.....test one, but if you like it on your 100% I'm sure you will be OK with it.

Another cool trick is a double hit of Matsui 301M.  It gives a very consistent washed out look, but definitely more faded than a 1 hit plastisol.  It's a really cool look on triblends, but we've used it on all sorts of shirts for this purpose.

And continues to happen with subsequent washings! The way to sell this effect is "no two alike!" I have always been really turned off to "distressed" hats, all with the exact same tatters, tears, and wear spots. They look really silly when displayed in quantity.

If using a auto double down on your pressure and smash the ink into the garment so the fibers stick out..  Not sure if you could get the right pressure manually or at the very least keep it consistent .

I have some Comet white, we might try that... been needing to try it... no better time than now.

It may take a wash before the fibers start to really show yet it should work with the right variables.

I can think of dozens of ways to do this. It all depends on exactly what "washed out" look you're trying to achieve.

Just ran a test on another screen while it was still on press.  This is navy so it got blue and the job is going on gray.
