Heres my print done on a GT541 no pre-treat. All I did was convert all the blacks to RGB chose a red I know prints well and a yellow that looks good as well. Single pass no adjustments to the vivid setting. As you can see it did not fill in any of the black and things look a bit crisper than your pic, blacks are richer as well.
Inkman knows what he is doing. With the right adjustments you can make that print pop and no pretreat needed.

i agree, but for us PT is the added insurance of better washability...coupled with brighter blues and richer reds...and amazing blacks...all with not dumping down a ton of ink.

I am not saying you can't get great prints with the standard machine...I am saying that your prints will be better with pretreating.  but it might not be worth it for you or your shop.
