anyone have any tips for getting this down to one pass on an auto? im struggling with it. i have about 4 jobs in house at the moment too!! using Union Gold Shimmer right now on an 86 mesh screen. it just looks so dull with one pass. two and it really shines. i have a 60 mesh that ive used too and i feel like the results were the same.

Did some Glitter last week using a 24 mesh, I would think that shimmer would benefit going through at least a 45. I know if you aren't prepped for it that's not going to work but like you I always did my shimmers through 81, I'll go lower from now. It comes out so nice getting that heavy layer on the underbase through the lower mesh count.

We've always PFP this manually and so far with the auto it's looking like it might need the same.

Check with the boys down in New Orleans... I'm almost positive they print with a LOT of that color down there.

25 mesh, even a window screen is too fine. I found you just struggle when using anything higher when printing glitter.

Yep, we struggle with this too. Hot market sports almost always has a shimmer in this area, and if we could get away
with a single stroke we'd be ahead of the game so to speak. FWIW they never put the shimmer over a base.

yeah im talking about the shimmer, not glitter. i know the glitters are a pain. we have a few 25's and 40's laying around for when someone wants that. and i dont feel like those work all that well either.

but yes, we are using the Union EF Bright Gold Shimmer. it doesnt have the super large flakes like the glitters. but man, i cant get it down to one pass at all.

I couldn't believe how open the 25 was, lol, you are right that window screen is defiantly finer! Coating that 25 is like coating across asphalt, lol

Xenon Double Bevel Squeegee blade 70 duro

no underbase

Light shirts = single stroke
Dark shirts = double stroke

no flashing - we get great results on our shimmers using this method

I think that's the one everyone is trying to avoid. Glad to know we aren't the only shop with this issue.

of course all these jobs are on darks too... at least they arent huge runs. double stroke... damn

I do not own an auto, but would two screens single stroked without flashing be faster than one screen with a double stroke?  Obviously it would take the time involved in setting up the second screen on press and burning/reclaiming/etc, but at some point assuming the single stroke with two is faster it would make up the difference right?

Depending on the size of the run we would use two screens, for sure.

lots of ways to make it work, but underbase of white on a 110 and 1 stroke of shimmer on a 110 gives great results in my shop, and we do ALOT of it.

Yeah just so people know if we are running a large volume in my shop and I say double stroke that = 2 screens setup side by side and single stroke on both screens...... If we are running a small run of shirts then 1 screen w/ a double stroke but 2 screens for a single stroke all day long on long runs
