Phone Pics - higher rez versions?
« on: September 30, 2014, 10:21:35 AM »
There is a disturbing new trend for me and my transfers:
low resolution pictures from smart phones that will not cut it as enlargements on shirts.

My wife sends a fair amount of pics from her iphone, and has a choice of quality.
Apparently, most phones automatically by default, send a low rez, small file size version.
Do most phones have these better versions sitting somewhere?
Is there a general method of getting them? Any tips and/or instructions to pass on to potential clients?

Email.

If they email the pic from the phone then it will send (or possibly ask) full quality.

BTW, this is an iProblem... android phones don't have this issue unless you are texting the picture, then it has to resize depending on carrier I believe.

I just found out that compounding the problem is that these are often not being sent from the original
"camera".

This time around, I did get a better version after they tracked down the "photographer's" original.

Size was a giveaway. The ones I received (5 tries in all) were all 4.3" tall, while the original was over 13".
Still pretty wimpy, but an improvement.

Seems to happen mostly on remembrance memorial type jobs.
