More and more, people are now renting out houses. A bunch normally does the Long Beach show and makes a short vacation out of it staying in a house (somewhere close I think) to the beach. Don't know how much is cost, but I'm sure the people staying split it and have separate rooms.

I have stayed in someones apartment for a week at $1500.00 with 5 other people during the San Diego CominCon overlooking one of the more popular near by streets and it was like Mardi Gras at night.

Another friend of mine gets a VERY nice house for ComiCon but pays $5000 for it for 2 wks. He brings in his whole family, brothers, cousins, Mom employees etc.

Check the internet and local area to Long beach for short term/event house rentals.  Many of you could get together and stay for a week.

Here's one.  Nightly for $200.00 or weekly for $1500.00   3 Bedroom sleeps 6 (or more). No charge for additional people.

The last time I went to the Long Beach Show (a few years ago) I checked out hotels on the www.      There were hotels a lot cheaper than the hotels next to the Convention center but in the comments about the hotels people said that the area was not safe, some even said they wouldn't leave their room at night.        In Long Beach there is a police car on every block.
I booked into the Hyatt for this show, costs $250 per night for two, so find someone to share at $125.
It's very convenient being next to the show and there are some great restaurants in the area.
5 minutes from the hotel (straight up the main road) is a great place for breakfast, a lot cheaper than the hotel.
There are great ribs near the port.        if you stay far from the site it will be hard to socialize in the evening.
