High ceiling in the screen room
« on: September 26, 2014, 04:30:01 PM »
so I have a choice here... either move a sprinkler head and install a drop ceiling, OR, run walls 20' up to the 'roof' deck and box in the 16x10 screen room.    Cost seems to be roughly equivalent either way...

Anybody care to weigh in?

I would think that the higher ceiling in the screen room would help keep the air more consistent with the dehumidifier running.

Why the drop ceiling?

Could you just build it out regular and use the top as a storage loft?

I suppose... but then there's stairs or a ladder to contend with, plus the sprinkler heads.  Meeting with the construction guys tomorrow to figure out what where we want it and I"m trying to collect options.

True...I'd think 20' would be a lot. Especially in a room you're trying to keep as clean as possible.

This is what I did. I had the screen room built so I had room so we can walk up there and store stuff. Its great. I don't have stairs or anything to get up there. Just use a ladder when needed. Why waist the space by having tall ceilings in your screen room. It did cost more.

Looks like we're going to steal some space from our office.  Bonus to that is that the ceiling and sprinklers are already there... plus it has AC too... win win, and less $'s to build it :)  Just a quick partition wall and we're good to go.
