Cold Call From India
« on: September 24, 2014, 05:20:46 PM »
Just got off the phone with a digitizing and vectoring company from the great land of India. He actually gave me his real name and not calling himself Bob or some other americanized name of that ilk. Getting to the point, has anyone ever dealt with Patterns India . com? The offer may be too good to be true, but we are always looking to save a couple of bucks. They are offering $5.50 per vector with a 2-4 hour turn around. Not sure but thinking about trying it. Anyone use these guys? We have a great digitizer and vector company that we work with all the time so I am not looking for any suggestions.

Not sure this is the right section to post this, but I try to be extra respectful about where I post.

Please let me know.

You guys are so prejudiced, it might have slipped your mind that India is actually not as undeveloped as you might think.

But the garment industry hasn't been treated that well... Remember the collapsed factory ~6 months ago.

There are a lot of factors at play here. India has placed a greater importance on education than we do. In turn they have a surplus of tech or computer related jobs and if those people can do the job via the internet, now they are in business. Couple that with their lower cost of living and the exchange rate, they do "OK" for themselves based on the cultural norm.

I have used one guys company for vectorizing for 8  years and our conversations have gone much deeper than "here is the file, need it by am". His English could use some work, but it is a hell of a lot better than my Indonesian!

To answer the original question, I have not used the company in question, but have had very good luck with other companies in India.

I would advise that what I have found is that proper English comprehension is usually the biggest hurdle. Especially if you are trying to convey detail oriented instructions.

Alex

Hopefully I'll never have to grow up and get a real job...

Bangladesh, India, what's the difference?  It's not 'Murica.
If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?

Guilty as charged... For whatever reason, I always thought it was IN India, not just surrounded by it.
