Discharge of Organic T-Shirts
« on: September 23, 2014, 04:01:50 PM »
A customer supplied us with 6k Loomstate T-Shirts. The tag says 100% Organic Cotton.

Is there a concern with printing discharge on organic cotton?

We print discharge all the time and feel comfortable printing on normal cotton shirts just did not know if I should look out for something before we do some testing on Thursday.

I ran a bunch of Anvil Organic about 2 months back, no problems at all.

we've had pretty good luck with Anvil organic ringspun. Some ppl here mentioned not liking them, but it always worked fine for us.

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

Same here on the Anvil, and  very good luck with a few other brands as well.

I have had pretty mixed results with organic in general.  I had a small run of Anvil women's organic come out nice and coffee colored instead of white a few months back, but have had plenty of others work really well.

Its not the cotton its the dye. A truly organic shirt uses "organic" dyes (debatable) which derive from vegetable or mineral matter. Thus the inconsistency.
