Ink Scales

for a bit over the last year, we've been using the Wilflex Epic 'Finished Ink' system... which is nice for us due to the tolerances in mixing are pretty wide.

I'm starting to consider switching over to one of the PC systems as we've been doing so much more poly/performance work. 

I know that my current harbor freight scale that we use in the ink room isn't going to be good enough to measure those hundredth gram levels (side note, does a .05 or .01 difference in a PC system really matter??)

Anyways, which scales should I be looking at if we switch?

Look for a Sartorius scale.  They will plug into your computer and work with IMS.

Also you will need one that reads down to .01

We use this one, and have been pretty happy with it.  You can only mix about a quart at a time though (1000g max) so it may not be optimal for larger shops.

that might fit the bill perfectly, as 99% of the time we're mixing quarts anyways...

Unless they changed, then yes.  It pops up on your monitor with the sliding bar to indicate quantity.

The industry most suited to our use is auto body paint mixing.  Hundredths of a gram up to 10,000 grams or more.
And yes, hundredths can make a difference depending on the quantity mixed and the color/pigment.
