New to the epson 1430 and changing the print settings.
« on: August 14, 2014, 02:25:39 AM »
I just got an Epson 1430 to print on transparencies to make positives for my screens, I am having trouble getting the settings turned up to premium settings to create a dark black layout for exposure. I do not have accurip or the blackmax setup yet,( I will later when I can afford 800$ ) but until now I want to just use the normal cartridges that iv seen others do before. I want to learn using a mac preferably, I have seen a video of a pc changing their settings but a mac is totally different. I appreciate any help.!!!!!!

i run a 1400 without all blacks and use stock setting for my films.  I had to try quite a few, but i believe i run photo rpm, highspeed, grayscale, and presentation matte.  Works perfectly on my films.

On our 1400 we run one channel (better resolution) but we do use AccuRip. Once it was set up, which is pretty easy, you don't think about it anymore, until you have a problem of some sort or another.

What do you mean by "Normal" cartridges?

Getting the best solid black usually requires say --black ink specifically for films.
You don't need an expensive rip to print opaque films.
Some try to get around rips but, optimal is AccuRip or similar rip needed for halftones though.

We use the 1400 with AccuRip. But dont get the blackmax kit from Ryonet, go to https://www.cobraink.com/ and get their kit. Its about a quarter the cost and you can refill the cartridges your self. The blackmax ones just shut off, even in the middle of printing. Which in our case left us f**ked some times. There is no warning when they are going low. Also get your film positives from http://fixons.com/ I think that is where Ryonet gets theirs. Again about a quarter the cost.
