Thread coming loose on one head - tajima

I have one head where when we do color changes, it doesn't want to pull the thread in as far as it does on other heads which causes the thread to come loose out of the needle at every color change. The hook that pulls the thread up into the head seems to be operating just as good as the other ones so I am confused. Any ideas?

Tension between the small tensions can do it or lint build up but since every color change? I still think tension as a whole.
Check them and see.

Thanks, I really think our tensions are fine, and I've tried adjusting that a lot. Lint also has been cleaned out, so I'm still scratching my head!

That is weird? Multi head? On swf you can adjust tail length maybe that would would help. Control panel.  Maybe bobbin tension different on each head if multi.

Yeah I've tried tail length, just makes super long tails on the other heads. I'll check bobbin tension in the AM. Thanks!

Check the Velcro in the fuzzy jaw that holds the thread after the picker pulls the thread back after the trim. If worn it will not hold the thread as the needle starts down on the first stitch, the thread will then pull out of the needle eye. Sewing machines have been around a very long time, not much has really changed so these type of issues are usually pretty simple to fix once you know where to look.

Thanks, I'll be checking that. I switched out the little velcro assembly with another one, and still having the issue, but maybe the velcro is worn out on both. I will do that and then report back

Is the little fork that pulls in over the hook going in all the way?  A lot of times they get bent and cannot go all the way in to grab the thread on startup. Just push it in and see if it is binding. Easily straightened out.

Yes it is going in all the way. I also don't think there is anything wrong with the Velcro.

The hook seems to pull the thread but sometimes it just doesn't pull a lot. The hook seems to be operating correctly.

I'll pull in a call to hirsch I guess, may take a while to get a response from them though!

Set up an account, it's easy.
They are pretty good at getting back when you have one.

There is a knot setting (2,4,6,8) they once told me that worked better.
It held the thread slightly tighter letting more of a tail out.

Enough backing can also help with holding thread for longer tail length.

Looking forward to hearing what works since it has been a pain sometimes here too.

Tance, watch your picker and make sure it's engaging exactly like the other three. Also your rotary hook may be too far from your scarf in the needle. It's one of those two.
