Generally, it is considered a good idea to have somebody print for you in the early days so you get a feel for the business and the industry. If you are really interested in printing from day one, consider taking a class. They are offered all over the place and will save you a LOT of aggravation and headache. Then when you get your own equipment you'll have more specific questions we can help you with.
Scott Fresner's book "How to Print T-shirts for profit and fun" is still a great resource to keep you going in the early days. Some things in the industry have changed since the last revision, but it is a good way to get started. Scott offers bot printing and DTG classes in AZ and TN. he has a banner rotating above.
