An Indianapolis, Ind., Inksoft customer was featured recently in a Fox 59 televised newscast concerning the death of Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer. On Sat. July 5, Officer Perry Renn was shot around 9:30 p.m. after responding to a report of shots fired in an alley. During an exchange of gunfire with the suspect, Renn was fatally hit with a bullet from an assault rifle.

Ink The Cause, a site powered by Inksoft’s web store and fund-raising software, gives people a way to raise money for causes by easily designing and selling T-shirts. It is run by RectorCom.com., a company offering screen printing, embroidery, digital direct printing, ad specialties, and signage. Vice President of Merchandising Gabe Peters explained in the interview that because of what their company did, it was a great opportunity to give back to the community and raise money for the Fraternal Order of Police to help families of injured and fallen officers.

Using Inksoft’s online design program and its library of typefaces and clipart, a shirt was designed with the words “Indy Strong –Help Stop The Violence.” The website for the fund-raiser was included in the broadcast, and the decorator hopes to raise $10,000 for the police fund. All proceeds will be donated so the decorator is making a significant contribution in not only time and labor but in blank shirts.

“There are a lot of people not happy about what’s going on lately, so hopefully people get behind the campaign and raise some funds for the FOP,” said Peters.
