Thoughts or "how would you"
« on: July 09, 2014, 10:30:26 AM »
I'm not huge into doing artwork myself but as today has it, it falls into my lap....
So how would people print this art below? Going on gold and orange T's....

I'd tell the customer to drop the background and mock up the ipad/banner/text to show them it would make a much nicer t-shirt design.  If they were dead set on the ferris wheel, I'd incorporate it behind the ipad somehow in solid ink.  5 color print.

If they wanted all that gradient/tranparency nonsense I'd send it out for seps or print it DTG.

What kind of file and how many pieces?

Do you have to print that whole rectangle?

simplified somewhat...Black & White Halftones...I would re-do the verbiage in vector, but you get the idea

I would print it as is, but would ask that we rag the edges or something I hate printing rectangles or squares...

similar to what grumpy did only minimize the halftones by thinning your white base way out and using a more translucent white.  Same could go for the ferris wheel.

depending the quantity of shirts is how many spot colors to go with.  You can always use black for the gray, but sometimes I find it easier to just print gray.

I would want a well made file in layers as opposed to a flattened image, then I would sep and print as is

Thanks for the input guys! Sorry I didn't come in earlier today I actually forgot I posted this(can you tell I don't usually do the art). They are so back and forth on this and insistent on the box look, that I think we will just go DTG espically because as of now it is "50 for sure" but maybe up to 200 thing.

i am going to warn you that DTG on orange can be tricky.  A lot of the pretreats will leave a darker stain around the image until they are washed.  Your customer might not appreciate that, but they should wash them anyway before wearing, but nobody washes them before handing them out.

I make sure to tell my customers this on the DTG white ink prints.

Play on your iPads?

I would re-draw that fade (out to full fade) so that there is no square shape and falls onto the orange and Gold tees. That would be a more appealing tee. Jut re-create that including the ferris wheel. It seems easy enough to re-draw most all that outside of the I-pad.

I agree w Dan.

There's a layered or vector source file somewhere in the chain of individuals managing this order. It never hurts to ask for it, if you didn't already.

I would print the ferris wheel with fashion soft base with half a percent of black
