Non-Waterproof Films

Anyone have a good source of non-waterproof films? Preferably on the
West Coast somewhere?

I have an Epson 9000 that I love to death. It's dye based, so it works with
both waterproof and non-waterproof films. We've been using Fixxons for awhile
and the films are great, but not permanent. Something in the waterproof coating
releases ink after exposure. We don't archive films for the most part, but it sucks
when we have to occasionally re-burn a screen.

Not to mention, the non-waterproof will have a more desirable d-min/max.

I get mine from Spot Color Supply on the boards here.  I like them a lot, I don't know where he gets them from, but maybe he can drop ship them to you.

I've been using the hybrid ink on his films with great success.

Frog:
I also have a real problem with fragility on Fixxons, though with the pigment black Vivera from HP. (Color is dye, black is pigment)
Stock ink carts are getting crazy expensive, but especially when running lots of transfers, it's very convenient to monitor how much ink is left.

Westar Solutions in Bellingham has what I think is the best non-wp.  It's kimoto I believe but they get it made for them and they keep it consistent which is really nice.  They're also an all-around pleasant operation to work with. 

I was on the epson site last nite and saw that they make a film for positives.  It's not any spendier than high-end film and is billed as "crystal clear".  Kinda curious about that stuff.  It's probably just something else re-labeled and marked up though. 

How does the gain work out on the non-wp?  I was struggling with our previous 3000 to get it to lay enough black down on non-wp without flooding out the dots. 

I too greatly prefer a truly clear film to the milky stuff.  It's just hard to beat the fixxons/microjet film at like 70 some bucks a roll, delivered.  The sh!t works so I keep using it.
