Moving the shop...
« on: August 15, 2011, 10:42:08 PM »
So I am going to a new shop. Slightly smaller, but SUPER clean with ample power, gas, heat/AC and epoxy finished floors with a carpet upper loft office area. Quiet neighborhood with no knuckleheads burning rubber outside the shop door.

STOKED.

Anyway I will be digging out of the current place and may have some misc gear to unload here. Some of it might even be screen-printing related!

Example: anyone need a 16" jacket hold down? (M&R bracket...) best offer or I'll trade it for a nice Nikon lens.

Hope all is well and good in your world.

May the Force be With You.

Moving a screen printing shop has got to be up there on the list of all time worst
things to do ever. Hopefully it happens during the hottest part of the year, unt. unt. unt.

Congratulations though.

I agree 100%. Just moved from a 2.5 car garage into a 3000 square foot shop and I am still trying to get everything set up. Changing location will effect alot more then you think.

Done it before. And when I moved into the current place, it was a bloody mess. Had to re-do lighting, plumbing and run electrical, replace drywall, paint, etc etc. This place is clean and ready to go.

Regardless, I'm overlapping a month of rent between the two for the move. The new shop is only 10 minutes down the highway so it doesn't need to all go in one truck.

I have a problem collecting all things screen printing. When my lease
is up here, my landlord knows he has me.

I originally converted the second floor of my house into my shop. When I moved into an actual space all I could think of was HOW THE HELL DID I GET ALL OF THIS UP HERE!!! My next move was across the hall to a much bigger space. That was pretty easy. Find a big strong friend, rent a moving van/uhual and it won't be bad at all. If you are moving to a better space you will be super excited about everything. The main thing that sucked was building the washout room.

As Jason said, pics, pics, pics!

Good luck!

it would almost be a blessing to move, getting rid of some of this crap would be great.  I've been slowly trying to clear it out myself

I used to say I need a bigger shop.  Then came the fire and we had to move out for about 5 months.  What a pain.

I could not keep up with my tooks and little stuff.

Glad to be home.

Dammit.

So this was going to be a sub lease. The tenants went to re-negotiate their lease the other day and the landlord actually jacked UP their rent. Retroactively.

Looks like they are vacating the premises in a few months. No way I could afford the whole thing.

Back to looking....

Sorry to hear that Jason. Good luck with a new spot. Hopefully it will work out where you get something even better!
