Florescent to LED shop light change overs?

Hey Guys, I know some of ya'll have done this. Did you have to do anything to your fixture, like disconnect ballast or do the bulbs simply go in and just replace the flo bulbs? Thanks

Follow the directions but the ones we did the ballast was removed and the 120vac wires were connected directly to the tomb stones

I'm not exactly sure which ones to get yet. I've ran into issues with screw in led bulbs that were on the cheaper end crapping out prematurely. Like cheap resisters that were in them burning up fast, so with that, I was also hoping guys using the 4 footers would pass on the type they used as well.

I just called Super Bright LED's from the link on this thread.
The salesman told me that both LED replacements they sell, the 17 and 18 watt
are UV FREE!  These are replacements for standard fluo tubes in an office.

I am having him check with his supplier to see if they have a design that does have UV output.

Emulsion has to have UV light to make a strong screen, one that resists pinholes and breakdown.
Yes you can make images with just about any light if you expose long enough,
but emulsion is exposed with UV light.  I made a screen with a 100 watt incandescent with a 6 hour exposure
but this is only an image, not a production screen that would last very long.

Any feedback on how these new LED tube replacements worked in your shop would be welcome.

I'm not looking for these to have UV for sure. I just want to replace the migraine creating florescent tubes in the office. The fact that they have zero UV output is a bonus. This then give an option for full on light in a screen room rather than yellow light, which I find annoying if you spend a lot of time in there. No UV output is also great for the fact that you don't have to worry about having any adverse reactions to your skin ect if you are in close proximity to any bulbs in the work area, like hanging over load unload stations. Thanks for calling and finding that out. That's awesome, "for us anyway".

Leave on overnight.  Wash out this screen the next day.
If you see circles fall out the light is partially exposing stored screens.

There is another thread on led in the screen room. I tested UV free bulbs for two weeks with no joy after a week the screens started exposing. I am going to try aging with different bulbs in the near future.

No biggy brother! Right now, my main focus is the office. The girls hate the florecent lighting, I don't blame them at all. Brian is saying he had some issues, so maybe if I try in the dark room, some indirect placement may be better, we will see. But like I said, I want to re-bulb the office, see how bright they are in there, then we are planing to build a couple "over the press" octagons with unistrut to put fixtures on for over the press lighting.

Ive been looking around for LED bulbs myself, been a little busy so not as hard as I could be, anyway those bulbs from the place linked here are 50 bucks.

Look on amazon and you can get the same ones for 35 bucks.

yup, get the ones from Amazon.  they are about $30 and work very well.  In most fixtures I put 2 or 3 bulbs where it had 4.  Some do burn half out after a while, but I put those in rooms that rarely get used or places it doesn't matter...or put 4 of those in a fixture and call it a day.

Good info here. I have been considering going to LED in our office areas as well.  We love our warehouse LED's.
