Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. - Thomas Edison
We just finally bit the bullet on a used 2000 model 6 head 9 color Barudan . We currently screenprint, make signs, banners, repair rock pecked windshields and letter trucks. I'm thinking the embroidery should max us out with just me, my wife and a part timer. Sorry for the post, just wanted to tell someone. I'm sure I'll have questions here on the board concerning embroidery because I'll admit I know absolutely nothing about it.

So even with shipping I would be cheaper off buying a second hand unit in the States.

also, you can spend a ton of time asking questions on forums, but I really recommend some training classes...ones that cover everything like how to sew and especially maintenance.
Congrats on your new toy.Quote from: Rockers on March 06, 2014, 07:42:28 PMMay I ask how much such a machine cost second hand?I know if I buy one in Japan I`ll pay at least twice as much as you guys over there. Just like the Murakami mesh you are getting. Both are excellent machines.I would not be so sure about that. Japanese manufacturers sell their equipment here in Japan at an outrageous profit margin will dumping them on the foreign market for much less. Same reason why we buy most of our supplies, ok apart from mesh, from the States. I can get gallons of Chromaline emulsion shipped by FedEx and still pay less then for Murakamis products bought directly of them here in Japan. But I might ask them for some quotes. Which of the two brands, Barudan and Tajima, offer the better machines and then which have the lower prices?
