I will get it done it is just gonna take me longer that I want. It will be right about 10K for me as well. I think it will get done in the winter that way I have time to play and get good at printing. Dont get me wrong I wish I could do it right now, well I can but I am not willing to go broke doing it so I am picking up a compressor this weekend and have some 23x31 frames coming this week.

I should be going to look at a old Javelin Pro 6/8 next Saturday or Sunday. Any tips on what I should look for? I honestly never been around an auto other than looking at one so what should I be doing. I know water in the lines is bad but what lines should I check?

Smooth index and lift. Smooth stroke and proper pressure behind the chop. No weird noises. Check that all heads
work and if possible see a 3 color print in registration on all boards. Make sure that the stroke length sensors work on all
heads.

If any of those are out they're not necessarily deal killers. (except registration, which can likely be
fixed, but could also mean the machine is useless)

Look for a chiller after the compressor. If there isn't one you can count on replacing cylinders, and that
adds up quick.

Thanks EB. I may look for a tech in the L.A. area to come and check it out with me.

Take a tech with you, the money spent will be worth it. I would rather pay a tech to tell me not to buy a press than to have a tech tell me the press I just bought is useless.

Watch who you pair up with in the LA area though. Lot of good ones, but breeding ground for the bad'uns too.

Personally, I'd wait out for an older Gauntlet. That's just me though.

Curious as to why you say Gauntlet? I have seen quite a few of those for sale at around the 10K range

Chopper vs V squeegee for one. Industry standard accessories that
are readily available for another. You can't throw a rock without hitting
an Omni-Flash, but how often do you see Flashbacks for sale?

Common as dirt can be a good thing. Trust me, I've got an MHM.

Good advice. There are a lot of shady deals out there. Trust nobody and you will be safe. Like Ebscreen said I would wait. I had a Jav. I am very mechanical and could fix almost anything on it. Having owned one in a production environment I would not do it again. They will not run with the chopper style machines. You have to stop a lot more to spread ink, you dont have the side to side flood and pressure adjustments either. Your much better off getting another machine for a first auto.

I am short on space as well that is why I have ordered an Anatol Titan with the price being the secondary consideration. Air Refrigerated Dryer and 3 phase connections added $7,000.

Thanks for the reply Tony, good info from ya!

And 3Deep I think you are exactly right. I think if the Gauntlet I am looking at falls thru that come winter I will be able to get a good deal.
