am i the last to learn about Union being bought out?
« on: December 19, 2013, 01:07:09 PM »
So rutland bought them out and going to move their manufacturing somewhere else?  They are moving to non phalate inks i guess..

So i was wondering where this will leave me (or all of us using UNION).

Wondering how i should proceed coming up.. I have all union..i like all the print characteristics and now i have to relearn another ink.

Also since i am stocked full of union should i start making a switch somewhere?

This is going to be a pita since you really can not mix different brands of ink..

those of you using union, how are you going to proceed?

I had to replace some MixOpake colors with the new stuff, and they seem compatible.

Didn't they get bought out before they bought out QCM?  Started getting the EF series in some colors at least two years ago.

If you could handle the old stuff, a little less opacity is the only downside I've seen, and it may be just the viscosity change.

Although if Rutland got bought out, that may make things interesting in the future.  Who would buy them, Wilflex?
Or are they part of a 'holding company' now?

Union was bought few years back, so you have been using the stuff that was made under Rutland management.
We have been using Liberty series ink (phthalate free) for a couple of years now and you should not have much of a problem switching.

I wonder how all these mergers will ultimately pan out. It's kind of hard to imagine that one parent company will keep the three separate ink brands running as is, as opposed to breaking them into one, maybe two lines. I know that rutland/union/qcm has been one for a while, but I wonder what will happen as time goes on.
