I recently came across an instructional book on screen printing from the early 60's at Half Price Books, and it got me thinking.  Does anyone have any screen printing books that are MUST reads, or any suggestions on books that have interesting niche info or industry history?  Any interest in starting a Screen Printing Book Club of sorts, where people suggest a book and we can read it and discuss?  Seems like an easy way to learn something new and promote conversation.

The book I found was seriously outdated, barely talking about photosensitive emulsions while talking at length about cutting out stencils, and a lot of the equipment looked seriously inefficient, BUT it was really interesting and I learned a lot of history.  I'll post the info and some scans of the book when I get home.

  • Always learning new things!
I recommend any of Bill Hood's books. Very informative and will open your eyes to many things. All of his books can be purchased and downloaded from his website. I think it's billhoodbooks.com

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

  • I like to screen print
Anything from Joe, Bill or Richard G.  There is nothing I've found as comprehensive as the M&R Professional Screen Printing Series book better known as the screen printers bible written by Joe about 12 years ago.  Everything in it still stands true, nothing is outdated even though it's older.
