Looking for some info on what I might be able to get thru a 40" wide door opening.....
Would like to have an 8 color 10 station with air locks are about my only requirments at this time. Any help is appreciated..... oh yeah, one more thing...... my budget is for a used machine at this time. I currantly have 2 Lawson 6 colors and I am hoping to replace them with something that can move our quality of printing up a notch. Nothing against the Lawsons, they are workhorses but we are wanting to add a little finesse. Thanks!

Take info from the guys, but always end up with manufacturers specs.
I've heard of one company lifting up to take through a window, but if there is no window...

I'v had to fit them in freight elevators and even had some swung  through a window on the fifth floor with a crane if that helps!

I believe M&R makes a number of presses that can be built specifically to fit through a 36" door, pretty smart. 

I refuse to dwell in a shop with anything less than an 8' overhead, which is still too small for me.  Big doors allow you to move in equipment that you find locally without excessive tear down of the machine.  I'd say look at cost/time to install a bigger door v. cost/time to rebuild a used press.

Wish I could add a bigger door but the problem is that all my equipment is in the basement.... my business is located downtown and moving to another location really isn't an option. I own 2 buildings on Main street here in our little town that are side by side with connecting walls that we opened so we have access to both sides.... our retail sales for the awards and engraving are on one side and the other side houses the showroom for all things garment related as well as the shipping, receiving and embroidery equipment. Both sides of the basement are used for the screen print and transfer making process....... I've thought about cutting a big hole in the floor but somehow I don't think the local building inspector would like that very well.............. so I guess my only real option is finding a skinny machine.

Its $1,000 extra to have the machine made to be assembled in your shop. Not PRICEY for what it takes to do it.

Like people said M&R has ones that should fit. anatol also has one, not that I would recommend it at all, but it is out there. I would assume most companies have at least 1 that should fit.

Something thing you may want to think about is a bigger auto may need a bigger compressor, dryer, ect.

We have a basement also, and to make it more useful we made a 4'x8' opening in the floor. It can open if we need to get stuff down there(we have a 2800lb. hoist above the opening) but 99% of the time the opening is closed/covered and is part of the regular floor. It is EXTREMELY handy. Guess what I am saying, it may be cheaper or more convenient to make a larger opening/access to your basement in the long run than spending money on a custom configured small press. Plus then you would be able to get other large things in the basement.

The option to ride the winch up and down yourself is worth the whole thing anyways!;D
