Never had issues with migration, but discharge just doesnt work on blends if you are looking for a completely solid field of color.  We discharge even 50/50 heathers, but with the expectation that the final print will have a distressed or vintage look.

May be its not a dye migration but we print light  yellow discharge color on dark grey fabric. It turns to light red.

i would say that is probably some reaction failure due to something in the dye of the shirt.  Stuff like this happens with some colors, like the caribbean blue Anvil 980, which will become bright pink before finishing it's cure, regardless of the color of the discharge ink.  Lots of weird chemistry at play.

i will say, some work better than others.

Tultex blends have NEVER EVER EVER EVER worked for us. but the hoodies discharge fantastic for the most part, aside from the normal variance in color from garment to garment

What's crazy here is the variance between lots of garments.  We have literally had direct opposite experiences as many I've seen posted.  For instance, Tultex hoodies discharged well for us but revealed a pattern in the garment weave so they're no go in here now and the blends have always discharged stunningly well for us, exact opposite of eric's experience.

It's kind of maddening and, when you get down to reality, discharge is not the way to go on designs printing on a wide variety of fabric types.

Which is why you should always test first. We have tested all brands that we promote. Every fabric construction and color. We have them rated. The ones that aren't succesful can usually take a DC/UB. If they fall beneath those requirements than we try to steer customers away from them. Most prefer the print technique over brand and price but not all.

Right on the money as usual Tony.  This is next year's project for us- isolating styles/colors that really perform for DC and promoting those.  It's a win-win as most of our clients are overwhelmed by the shirt options available.
